A daughter turns 40!

Image
I'm back from a week in beautiful Brisbane, visiting our daughter on her 40th birthday, so now I can share the card I made for her - I hope you don't mind, Marisa! She has a very social personality, so I chose this design to capture her love of life, friends and  family!  Big use of dies and sponging, but a lot of thought went into it - even including a shaker element behind the glasses.  I'm sure she loved it:) Card recipe: Dies:  Memory Box - Starlit breeze, Simon Says Happy, Top Dog Dies - Party Drinks, Kaisercraft Numbers small. Inks:  Distress Inks:  Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Festive Berries

Another one layer card for LIM for this week's challenge - this time to use geometrics!  A great theme, and I do have lots of ideas for this one, but with very limited time and supplies still constraining me, I opted to use a MFT stencil to produce these two very quick, clean and simple cards. I used masking to keep my border straight for this card, but for the one below, I just started at the centre and worked my way out, ensuring to leave plenty  of white space.  I used Distress Inks and a finger dauber to apply my ink. Card recipes:   Stencil:  MFT Abstract Ink:  Distress Inks - #1 - Carved Pumpkin, Abandoned Coral, Festive Berries. #2 Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves Sentiments:  by Stampin' Up! - Botanicals for You, Hello

Lots of 'not' white space

This week's Less is More challenge is to use lots of white space, except it is not to be white.  In other words, lots of open space in a colour other than white! I have been entering the Less is More challenges for some time, in order to stretch my skill in creating Clean and Simple (CAS) cards, and I have to say I love the results that can be achieved by adhering to the modern, clean lines of this style.  The LIM DTs inspirations are no exception, and their cards can be found  here . I have been busy making little 4 x 4" note cards, which I intend to send out to members of our Probus Club, who perhaps haven't been feeling on top of the world lately, for whatever reason.  I figured the 'For You' sentiment could be suitable for most of these, so have made a start using this lovely rose stamped on watercolour paper, white heat embossed and coloured with Distress Inks.  My other cards just use the 3.75" panel adhered directly to the 4 x 4" cards,
